  • Quantity: 65.5 cubic-metres

THE CHALLENGE

Access. Due to the nature of underpinning, the work took place in the building’s basement. The reason this was a challenge was due to it being rather tricky to manoeuvre wheelbarrows around the existing foundations.

This, paired with the extensive amount of work already taking place in the basement, made for a crowed workspace. However, our team worked seamlessly with Kris’s, and with both parties helping one another this job was made much easier than it could have been.

WHAT WE DID

Concrete

Over the course of seven days, we installed 50.25 cubic-metres of C35 concrete for the underpin. The chute was extended at maximum length to the basement level, where the concrete was collected in a wheelbarrow and then installed by either tipping or shovelling.

This took some time but the end result left our customer very happy with both the quality of the grade, and the quick turnaround.

THE OUTCOME

The underpinning was a success, which allowed our customer to then excavate the ground below to the desired depth and commence the next stage: the slab.

A proper base, shuttering and mesh were installed in preparation for us to pump the C30 concrete slab, which totalled 15.3 cubic-metres. Once the slab was pumped, tamped down and made level, our role for this project was complete. We provided a total of 65.55 cubic-metres, both barrowed and pumped for this project.
